DIY Summer Popsicle Front Door Sign

Once a month, our friends, Craft Box Girls, go live on our Facebook page, to teach viewers some fun crafts featuring one of our glues!  This month, Lynn taught viewers how to make a DIY Summer Popsicle Front Door Sign with TWO of our glues: Beacon Power-Tac and Fast Finish Decoupage.  Follow along below to learn how to make your own or check out the live on our Facebook page.  This sign is for sure going to make a BIG statement in your home!

Instructions:

Step 1: Take your foam board and with a pencil, draw an outline of a popsicle.

Step 2: Using an x-acto knife, cut out your popsicle.  Try and do it on a straight line.

Step 3: If you’re going to paint your popsicle multiple colors, grab a pencil and draw two wavy lines to section it off into three different parts.

Step 4: Pick the three colors you want to paint your popsicle and paint each section a different color.  Lynn used acrylic paint.  You may have to do two coats depending on the color and make sure you paint the edges.

Step 5: After you’re done painting, cut out your stick from cardboard or card stock.  Add some Power-Tac to the top of the stick and then adhere it to the popsicle.  Make sure it is centered.  You can add some clothes pins to hold it in place.

Step 6: Then, grab your paper letters and spell out your desired message onto your popsicle.  Squeeze some Power-Tac into a plate and then using a popsicle, rub Power-Tac onto the back of your letters.

Step 7: Move on to then making your bow with your burlap ribbon.  Set it off to the side once you’re done.

Step 8: Grab your Fast Finish Decoupage and pour it into a plate.  After you do this, make sure your popsicle is free of any dust or debris.  Then using a large paint brush, paint the Fast Finish Decoupage onto your popsicle.  The Fast Finish Decoupage will give your popsicle a shiny finish and weather proof it.

Step 9: Using your Power-Tac, adhere your bow onto the corner of your popsicle (the non-eaten side).

Step 10: Cut out a piece of twine (this will be used to hang your sign) and glue it on both sides of the popsicle using Power-Tac.

Note: Unlike other glues, Power-Tac does not contain PERC, which is known as a carcinogen.
